  • Yield: 2 1x

Description

Looking for a killer smoked steak recipe? Look no further. This smoked steak recipe will leave the beef tender with a mouthwatering smoky flavor. This recipe works best with thicker cuts of steak such as ribeye, beef tenderloin, and Tomahawk.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 inch thick steaks ((ribeye, beef tenderloin, Tomahawk))
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt
  • Avocado Oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the smoker to 225°F. Load the smoker with your favorite type of wood (hickory and mesquite are both great options).
  2. Pat the steak dry with a paper towel. Season the meat on all sides with black pepper and kosher salt.
  3. Place the steak on the grill grates, close the lid, and continue to smoke the meat until the target internal temperature is reached: 115°F for rare, 125°F for medium-rare, 135°F for medium, 145°F for medium-well, or 155°F for well-done.
  4. Take the meat off the pellet grill as you preheat a cast iron skillet over moderately high heat.
  5. Coat the base of the skillet with avocado oil. Place the steak in the pan and sear for 2 minutes on each side. Continue smoking meat until the desired temperature is reached: 125°F for rare, 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium, 155°F for medium-well, or 165°F for well-done.
  6. Remove the steak from the cast iron skillet and let it rest for about ten minutes.
