Description
This homemade dry rub recipe is full of flavor. Use it on a whole chicken, chicken wings, chicken legs, chicken thighs, pork steaks, turkey, or fish. Use it by itself or in addition to your favorite barbecue sauce. These rub ingredients are pantry staples, and this recipe is gluten-free!

Dry Rub
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, optional for more heat
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp kosher salt
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp oregano
- 2 tbsp smoked paprika
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.
- Store dry rub in an airtight container for 2-3 months.
- When you’re ready to cook your chicken, lightly coat your meat in olive oil and sprinkle a few teaspoons over your meat. If cooking a whole chicken, you’ll need 1 to 2 tablespoons of rub.
