- 3–pound pork shoulder steak
- 24 oz beer
- 8 oz sweet barbecue sauce
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 8 oz apple juice
- 8 oz beer
Instructions
- Marinate your pork shoulder steak in a large container with the beer for at least one hour.
- Preheat the grill and remove your pork shoulder steaks from the marinade. Discard the marinade mixture. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels.
- Combine brown sugar, chili powder, cumin, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and kosher salt in a small bowl. Coat the pork shoulder steak evenly on all sides with the spice rub.
- If you want to baste your pork shoulder steaks while they grill, mix 8 ounces of apple juice with 8 ounces of fresh beer in a small bowl to make a mop sauce.
- Grill pork steaks on a closed grill over medium heat for 20 minutes on each side, basting them with the mop sauce every 5 minutes.
- To finish grilling pork steaks, move your steaks over direct heat and baste them liberally with BBQ sauce. Grill them for a few minutes on each side until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F.
- Remove the steaks from the grill and allow them to rest for 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
